WalkScilly 2010 Begins Tomorrow!

Now in its 4th year WalkScilly aims to celebrate and reveal the beautiful Isles of Scilly.

WalkScilly2010, the Isles of Scilly Walking Festival, takes place between Sat 27th March 2010- Sat 3rd April 2010

It’s hard to imagine a much better backdrop for walkers with cliffs, beaches, rock formations, rugged outcrops, soft and gentle sand dunes, amazing and diverse wildlife and all contained within a cluster of islands none of which is more than three miles across.

Our programme of events has something for everyone and features over 30 guided walks, all of which are graded easy, moderate or hard. This year there are three new walks, featuring Wild Food, Art and a walk between the islands!

There is wide range of evening entertainment scheduled, with social events, multi-media shows, talks and music. This year WalkScilly2010 coincides with the Isles of Scilly Folk Festival bringing the best of traditional Cornish Folk music to the islands.

‘The Isles of Scilly Folk Festival’, is an event designed to celebrate folk music on Scilly and to bring some of the country’s finest musicians to play on the islands. Traditional Cornish dancing, the Scilly-inspired sounds of The Rough Island Band, a candlelit concert in Old Town Church, a hammered dulcimer workshop – some of the highlights of this year’s festival. Where possible, the music will fit around the walking so, having completed the most beautiful walks imaginable, you can put your feet up and listen to some of the best and most innovative modern folk acts over a pint of locally-brewed ale….life really doesn’t get much better.
